Sometimes events occur in a person’s life that involve legal matters. If you are unsure about such issues or unable to resolve them on your own, it is safer to seek assistance from an experienced solicitor. Even if you simply require expert legal advice, it is best to engage the services of a solicitor. This is particularly important in serious cases, as solicitors are better equipped to handle clients’ requests.

When is a solicitor useful?

In Ukraine, the work of solicitors is regulated by the relevant law “On the Bar and Legal Practice”. The work of such specialists covers the following areas of law:

  • Criminal cases. Criminal defence solicitor. This is the main area of a solicitor’s practice. Their primary task is to defend the rights and interests of a client who is accused of or suspected of committing a crime.
  • Tax matters in business. A service in high demand among companies that do not have their own in-house lawyer or are facing tax issues. For example, a lawyer may be required if a bank account is frozen at the initiative of the tax authorities, in the event of unlawful actions during a tax audit, or to have a tax authority decision that is detrimental to the business declared invalid.
  • Civil cases and disputes. This category includes matters such as the division of property, maintenance payments, divorce, disputes over wills, road traffic accidents, the drafting of sale and purchase agreements, etc.
  • Commercial cases and disputes. The essence of this branch of law lies in resolving disputes between business entities, companies and sole traders. For example, this may involve the resolution of commercial disputes arising in the course of business activities, debt recovery from debtors, bankruptcy support, etc.
